Mohammed Assaf
Born in Khan Younis, in the Gaza Strip, he rose to fame in 2013 by winning Arab Idol, the Arab version of Pop Idol.
Nicknamed the 'brown nightingale' of Palestine, he is today the undisputed voice of Arab tarab, in the lineage of Abdel Halim Hafez and Oum Kalthoum.
Goodwill Ambassador for Peace with UNRWA, he carries, through his clear voice and humble charisma, a message of hope, dignity and resilience.
A show with a solidarity dimension
Part of the proceeds will be donated to the Canaan Institute of New Pedagogy (Gaza), an internationally recognized organization, partner of 194 children's centers.
Founded on active pedagogy and the right to education, the Canaan Institute works to preserve access to culture for the most vulnerable children. It is in this ecosystem that Mohammed Assaf grew up.
“Music is the universal language that unites peoples beyond borders. With this event, Cantarah builds a bridge between cultures and affirms that art is, more than ever, an act of resistance and hope.”
